PHILOSOPHY I am committed to bringing top quality handcrafted jewellery to the individual. Savickas Design only use gemstones with exceptional cuts and colours. Each piece is individually made by hand, so it is distinctive to the owner. Each design is limited to a small range of pieces as the jewellery is not produced for the mass market. If you want to reflect your individuality and stand apart from the rest, you can express yourself with SAVICKAS DESIGN handcrafted jewellery. MATERIALS SAVICKAS DESIGN jewellery is handcrafted using 925 Sterling Silver, to ensure high quality in the construction and clean, silver appearance of all work. On occasion, 9 carat gold is used to enhance a design feature. Sterling Silver may also be oxidised to give a blackened effect. SAVICKAS DESIGN jewellery is created using genuine, natural gemstones such as Amethyst (pale to deep violet), Citrine (lemon to golden yellow), Garnet (pale pink to deep ruby red), Tourmaline (beige, brown, green or pink), Peridot (lime green), Topaz (colourless and pale blue), Labradorite (beige, blue or green), Moonstone (white or blue), Rutile and Smokey Quartz (colourless to pale brown), Spinel (pale lilac, mid violet-grey to greenish-grey), Sapphire (white, yellow and pale to dark blue) and the stunning natural Zircon (champagne shades). Man-made Cubic Zirconia (a dazzling colorless stone) is occasionally used to enhance certain designs where a diamond could be used, to keep costs down. INSPIRATION Most of the work I have designed has been inspired by travel. I have lived in the Middle East, Asia and Europe, as well as Australia, so I have had many cultures inpact on my sense of design and beauty. Inspiration also comes from the places I have lived and traveled to in recent years. Living in Jordan gave me insight into the geometry and symmetry of Islamic Design, which increased in Egypt and Turkey. Germany's sharp and linear architecture contrasted starkly with France's ornate and fluid constructions. I admired the organic nature of design in Cambodia and Thailand and the layers of detail in India. I have taken thousands of revealing photographs during my travels. These places have all inspired my jewellery designs. My Lithuanian heritage influenced my design sensibility through the exploration of the country's artists and craftspeople and their creations in printmaking, painting and traditional jewellery designs. My periodical travel to Lithuania enhanced my interest in Lithuanian designs and themes. The new line of work that is being created is heavily influenced by my time in India and Cambodia, which you may notice through the organic and geometric shapes that dominate. |
